Forward in battle!

Jesus said: 'I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it' (Matthew 16:18)
During the past 18 months, God has not been idle! If the gates of hell won’t stop Jesus building his Church, Covid-19 won’t stand in his way, nor will lockdown. Jesus is building his church.
This means that now restrictions have ended and a new year of Church by the Bay begins rather than a roadmap back to normal, we want an operations map for Church growth!
Through this time of change, fear, upheaval, costs (some of which hidden). God has been blessing His Church. There is lots to be thankful for.. One of those things to be thankful for is the opportunity- a once in 10 year opportunity (our 10th birthday is September 11th), possibly a once in a generation opportunity - to ask big questions about why we do the things we do, and how best we can do what we do. We don’t want to miss this set of circumstances that God has given us to rethink how we do Church,
Of course, we don't want to make any changes for their own sake, but rather take the time to look at God’s Word and measure Church life. What can we learn from the hardships and strange blessings of this past year? Are there things we could do better as a Church?
Instead of going back to normal, we want to go forwards into battle! We want more teaching for the Church and more gospel preaching to the world.
The centrepiece of Church by the Bay, our heartbeat, is our Sunday morning gathering. For all the programmes, events, structures we have, what we need most is to meet together physically. Therefore Sunday mornings are where we want to think hardest, to make them as good as we can for the glory of God and the growth of the Kingdom.
What changes are we going to make?
