Church Family Weekend

29 Apr 2014

This will be our second Moorlands and Church by the Bay joint church family weekend together. It will be a great time to get to know each other better, to encourage each other and to think about what it means to serve God as local churches as we listen to God’s word. The facilities at Ripley School will be ours for the weekend. It will be an opportunity for us to re-focus our energies on the mission for which God has called us together.

COLOSSIANS 3 - WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT THE CHRISTIAN LIFE?

In recent years there has been a huge shift in the way our culture views Christianity, from apathy to a definite antagonism. The Christian life is perceived to deny the freedom which is the supreme value of many people. Christianity is therefore seen as not just irrelevant, but evil. We therefore need to learn again just how good the Christian life is. In order to want to share the gospel with friends and others, we need to really and deeply appreciate just how good it is to be Christian. John Woodhouse will be helping us to do that through Colossians 3.

JOHN WOODHOUSE

John is an outstanding Bible teacher and Christian leader. He was principal of Moore Theological College in Sydney from 2002 until 2012. Prior to that he served as the leader of Christchurch St Ives, in Sydney, for many years, while lecturing in Old Testament at the College. He has published a number of academic articles and books including a commentary on Colossians and Philemon and "1 Samuel: Looking for a Leader”, and is currently working on a commentary on 2 Samuel. John is married to Moya and we are thrilled that she will be with us for the weekend.

CHILDREN FROM 0 -12 YEARS

Our children will have their own team of Bible teachers from Parr Street Church, Kendal and their own teaching programme over the weekend.
